Need ideas to clean & keep clean ho track
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, September 24, 2002 10:40 PM
Our club has a large layout in the basement of one of our local hobby stores. The problem is the building is fairly old with the limestone walls, causing alot of dirt, dust,& humidity doing a number on the track. My question is does anyone have an idea we can use to clean & help keep the track clean? It seems we spend more time cleaning track than running trains. Thanks Rusty

Rusty, Our layout is also in the basement and with the kids getting older and branching out we don't run as often as we used to. First thing we do when we run is send the plow around the layout. It is great for scooping up spider webs and the attendant spiders. We then send the track cleaning unit around and will handsand any particularly troublesome spots. First revenue train is usually a load of coal or gravel which polishes things up quite nicely.
