Hey espeefoamer, do you know a site where I can see pictures of this scheme with yellow letters? All I have seen of it is with black letters.

I'm probably one of about 3 people in the world to say this, but I miss Cascade Green and I really miss the Grinstein 70MACs. I really really really miss the Tiger Stripes. To me, each successive Heritage Scheme looks worse. The H1's were OK (even borderline cool on some of the older standard cab units), I'm not a big fan of the H2's, and I really don't like this H3 scheme.

But, that's just my [2c]. YMMV.

Hey Eola, did you ever figure out where your going tripping at? Find any shopping/railfanning hotspots?

It looks like they might be putting yellow lettering on the new GE AC's that they are getting

Thanks nsscot, I really like the yellow lettering with black outlines much better...now if I could only see one "in the flesh". I was at Rochelle most of the afternoon yesterday, 3/25 (that was me in the black sedan parked along the tracks at about 1:45 p.m. near the pick up truck also there), and saw lots of trains on BNSF but not one unit in the new scheme. Oh, well, I guess I will continue to wait.

Chris, yes, my wife and I are going to drive south in IL through Bloomington, Springfield and on to St. Louis to see the transportation museum and then back to Chicago along the MO side of the river and through Galesburg. Hope to see lots of trains. Thanks for asking.

I'm not sure of the yellow lettering, form the pics, it seem to blend in to much to the orange, if you look from a distance. at least you can boldly see the black.

I also really liked the Grinstein Green and Cream SD70MAC's, but these days the ones that are left in that scheme are generally really dirty and worn so they look terrible. However, this is true for just about any scheme, they all look good when clean...OH, OH, HERE WE GO AGAIN WITH THE CLEAN VS. DIRTY LINE...SORRY!

Well,
Go to see one up close and personal today, ES44DC #7687..and its pretty nice.
I am not one to get carried away by paint...but in person its good looking.
A lot cleaner than the scheme it replaces.
And that is black, not dark green.
I too though the cream and green was pretty classy looking.
For those of you who dont like the new BNSF Swoosh...sorry, but it is a lot easier to apply, less to maintain, so count on it being the norm for awhile.

If BNSF was going for a speed lettering look, IMO, I would have enjoyed the old DRGW paint scheme. If they (BNSF) were looking for something other than the H1, H2 or H3; then I agree with CopCarSS and gone backto the Cascade Green scheme.
