Yes, it can't be said enough: DO NOT TRY TO BEAT A TRAIN!!

My heartfelt condolences to the families. We had the same thing happen around us,
about 1 1/2, 2 wks. ago, in Shepherdsville, KY. It happened on a private road. The
young man was killed. His fiance and their baby survived. The baby was in
a car seat, was ejected, and found several yards away, still strapped in it's
seat.

I have a lot more sympathy for the engineer, who's train hit this car. He had no control over the situation, and I would bet that even though he is not at fault for this accident, he has to live with it for a long time to come. I would be having nightmares over what happened at that grade crossing if I were in his shoes.

I know what the train engineer is going through I had a guy hit me when I was driving trucks back in 1996. He hit my rig with enough force to tear the cab of my tractor away from the frame.
Always at war with those that think OTR trucking is EASY.
