Joe was 5110 hp and approx 110600 lb of tractive effort. They were originally meant for USSR but were later sold to MILW ,some other railroad i frogot :p and Brazil. <br /> <br />As for the rating on the engine - it is approx 10-15% higher then those for traction (eg SD70ACe is 4300 for traction so 4900 real). But much depends on humidity, temperature etc. Anyways - what really can be achieved of these engines is a mystery since they are computer controlled with some safety margin to assure high reliablity (if you really wanted then 8000 hp of those engines is quite possible - the big question is for how long ;) )
