If Amtrak goes under, who would purchase the northeast corridor, if any? I think these questions keep the government in the passenger railroad business. And since it is in, the rest of the states want some sort of railroad passenger service too. The problem is the fact that the Congress has failed to provide the funds to keep the northeast corridor in good running order, billions of dollars behind in upgrading and maintaining the corridor. The US Postal Service is another government owned business that fails to turn a profit too. Yet, somehow, it is able to lease and build new post offices, plus vehicles.....
