Not hard at all Nate, just refer to some prototype photos, and an easy Athearn "kitbash" will do. Unless you want a "rivet-for-rivet" EXACT model, the Athearn U-series will be a good starting point. Consult a "Walthers" catalog for the various parts needed. As I said earlier, there is a bulge in both sides of the hood just ahead of the radiator area, and with units built after about 1980, or so, a much larger exhaust stack. This was a muffler to comply with government regs. I would recommend that you pick up a copy of Kalmbachs "Contemporary Diesel Spotters Guide" and that will help you out with not only THIS project, but many to come. Of course, if you are trying to model a specific unit, then you will want to refer to prototype photos. I have built my entire Grand Trunk Western fleet by just this practice. Over 20 engines that I have modeled, I have a personal connection to them. ( either I have operated them, or ridden in then). It helps to have photos too, when modeling a specific unit. <br /> Todd C.
