A number of independent industry experts criticized the railroads for asigning the signal department with the PTC development and thus giving away the named possible advantages. </p> <p>Rolling block would rise the track capacity without the need of more track.</p> <p>Where is the back-up for the signal system? If equipment fails, it is designed failsafe. And the same can be done with PTC.</p> <p>BTW the European Train Control System (ETCS) will, in its advanced form, remove the need for lineside signals and allow a movable/rolling block.<br />Regards, Volker</p> <p> </p>
