Wonder what precipitated all of that? Someone must have been severely depressed over something, if it was a jumper....Dave Williams http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nsaltoonajohnstown

Jeez, I've heard the service on Amtrak was bad, but I would at least wait for the train to stop before I would bail.

About a year ago, I was catching the Texas Eagle at St Louis for Chicago. The TE was 4 hours late to St Louis for the same reason. Appearantly that jumper had to escape people who were "out to get him". The train was doing 59MPH, he narrowly missed a signal structure and and according to train crew members was alive when the ambulance carried him away.

I learn more on my Scanner from 911, They said the Amtrak train 41 is going to Pittsburgh Now, So the NS Cops are going to talk to the Train crew down in Pittsburgh and the people on the train. I bet the train crew is very upset now about the guy jumping from the train, I also bet the guy was drinking too much Beer on the train too?

It seems that Amtrak service has become worse that previously thought.

This evening at Harrisburg I was waiting for 41 to leave and listening to the scanner. There was some talk from State tower and the train about police, etc. Unfortunately I missed most of the details because of noise from a passing train, etc. but I wonder if there is a connection.

Just looked at all three Pittsburgh TV station sites along with the two newspapers and no mention of this. Don't doubt something happened but strange that nothing has shown up on any of the Pittsburgh media.

I drove an Amtrak engineer last night & he said that there had been a fatality which had held up train 29 so this must have been what he was referring to.

29 got a trespasser just outside of Washington. Walking on the tracks with back to train. Coal train going the other way at the time.

Not related to whatever happened on 41.

Years ago while working for Greyhound, someone actually jumped off a bus. I knew the driver and his events of the story went like this: man sitting in the second to last row of seats, across from the bathroom, was on the bus when the driver took over in Kansas City. After departure, as the bus rolled through the Grain Valley, Mo. area, the man set down his paper, pulled the bar that held the emergency window closed and jumped. He fully intended on landing in the outside-third-lane of traffic hoping then to get hit and fini***he job for sure. He misjudged his time and jumped shortly after the third lane ended, landing in the median. He lived for a few more hours then died at the hospital. The driver was off for four months, and obviously the bus was hours late into St Louis.
