What ever happened to......The RDG T-1s ?
Posted by samfp1943 on Friday, February 2, 2024 2:46 PM

A current article in the TRAINS Newswire, on formr RDG #2100  Caused me to ask myself that question...          I recalled that around 1968/69 one of the T-1's was reported to have been 'destroyed' in a roundhouse fire (?)... An other had run with the Eastern version of the American Freedom Train (?. All were during a foggy period in my life: [married, etc, USMC to RVN]    Turbuent times.

So today this following linked article was seen on TRAINS, in a Newswire; LINKED @   https://www.trains.com/trn/news-reviews/news-wire/reading-t-1-no-2100-has-boiler-tubes-installs-undergoes-first-hydrostatic-test/

I did not remember THE #2100, but I did recall, some few facts, about the #2101, and a 2102.  The History in between was pretty spoitty.  I knew from articles that #2102 was 'restored' and active, currently, on the  RBM&N RR, in Eastern Pa.

I guessed, that  #2101 ;had been cut-up for scrap, after that fire(?)

A little surfing the net; for informtion found the following information:

#2102  Linked here @ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reading_Blue_Mountain_and_Northern_Railroad_2102

Of course, usual diusclaimers for the information on Wikipedia prevail...

BUt I felt like it was of enough interest to report on here.

2101 is being cosmetically restored... by contractual agreement, to the American Freedom Train livery.  (This was part of the arrangement with Ross Rowland after the fire).

There has been extensive discussion of the various T-1s on RyPN.

2100 was kludged with industrial oil-firing controls as "Ferroequus" and was recovered by the American Steam Railroad group, which has nearly restored her to operation in Cleveland.

2102 is operating excursions on Reading, Blue Mountain, and Northern or whatever Mr. Muller chooses to call it now.

2124 is the one with roller-bearing driver axles instead of that Hennessy lubricator setup.
