Day in the Life of a Freight Train Engineer

This is a VHS tape made for a railroader's family to get a taste of a typical morning's experience.

I watched the entire video.

Low tech but very informative.

Seemed to be a large number of industrial sidings on that run...most of which had cars.

I'm surprised NS allowed this. The engineer/instructor shooting a video. ??

But I am enjoying it, watching a little at a time.

Still in training.

2000 - Before 9/11 and the days of "no electronic devices in the cab."

Chatsworth collision in 2008 brought the crackdown on having operating electronics in the cab.

What I find even more curious is that it has taken the US Maritime industry until 2022 to crack down on electronic devices with the grounding of the MV Ever Forward in the Chesapeake Bay.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!

The 'Trackside Photographer' may be going out soon, but they're going out with a bang...

Here is a 'day in the life' on a different railroad, with quite a number of interesting photographs.  Did 'our' Joe know this Joe?
