Guys, I think you should start to get used to the idea of remote/automatic control. Today it is for yard operations. It is pretty simple because locomotives are operated form the control tower, so visibility gets improved. <br /> <br />In the future, remote controlled locomotives will hit the road. But road locos will be a lot more complex than switchers. They will have permanent infrared and sonar/radar viewing that will make an emergency stop whenever needed. They will see day and night, in dense fog, rain or windstorm. No blinks. <br /> <br />Don't get so scared anyway. Remote controlled road trains are currently under trials in Europe. So it will take at least a decade to get here. There is enough time to get a good pension for many of you. <br /> <br />Cheers.
