The only involvement I've ever heard Northern Pacific having with aviation is the early adoption of it to survey their large timber holdings in the 1950's utilizing aerial photography.

I assume that by the end they had a small fleet of executive aircraft for meetings and such past the reaches of Northern Pacific's fine fleet of passenger trains, but doubt there's much more than that to NP's direct ties to aviation.

When you consider the number of airlines that have come and gone since the beginning of de-reg, I'm not so sure that there was ever a right time.
The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

Titanic pent up demand, too much demand/not enough capacity in freight handling, and gate space bound to open up as smaller/less solvent carriers contract?  Sounds like a great time to start an airline.

Starting an international airline now when most international travel is curtailed is foolish.  All it takes is for another increase in cases and travel is shut down and you go under.  The Big 4 of US airlines, plus Alaska are much better able to handle the present times than a small start-up.  They make a big thing about Iceland and Icelandair, while forgetting that the #2 airline there, WOW, went belly up about a year ago.  Also, 757s don't carry much belly cargo.
