The Milwaukee Road "Bobby Line" in SE Wisconsin (Eagle, WI to Elkhorn, WI)

I always wondered why the Milwaukee built this long abandoned line (torn up in 1933) or why it had a Spur off it to LuLu Lake.    The main spur line went through Troy center (note the railroad plotted grid pattern of the town).     Note they have the railroad names transposed in the article below here:

The Western Union Railroad is the former "Southwestern" line from Sturtevant and into Racine and the Chicago and Milwaukee and St. Paul is the line through Eagle.

Wisconsin railmap so you can enlarge and see the spur line from Eagle, WI to Elkhorn, WI  (North of Troy Center was the spur to LuLu Lake):

Any idea if the ROW is still detectable?  I rode through Troy on my bicycle last week and didn't spot anything obvious.

If you look at Google Maps for the route, you can make out much of the former ROW.  Start in Elkhorn next to the intersection of Wisconsin and Centralia Streets.

The line didn't go through Troy.  It went through Troy Center.

If you live in Wisconsin another neat "abandoned" feature is the former TMER&L company engineered grade between West Pewaukee Lake and Highway 83 former grade crossing.     The grade is entirely on the County Golf Course and so it is fully open to walking and to the public.    Definitely worth a look see.    The TMER&L paid a fortune for this grade and the valley of sorts it dug just West of the Highway 83 grade crossing (used in the fill along Highway C and Lake Nagawikca Lakefront).    Someone should do an article in TRAINS about this.    Very interesting grading and engineering.    And TMER&L mentions it cost a small fortune to build this small section of line because of all the Earth moving and grade climbing.
