One thing that is becoming obvious in all of these comments citing examples of different cities, is that they all have problems that are unique to each of them. Whatever the problems to be solved may be, it looks like the solutions are not simple. Trains have advantages and limitations, and so do busses. This is why I believe a system that can let trains do what they do good - move lots of poeple from (only)A to (only)B quickly; and let busses do what they do good - stop at your corner, will probably supply an answer.
