They don't want me on the Newswire!
Posted by CShaveRR on Thursday, April 15, 2021 10:42 PM

I know that since the website was changed, there have been a lot of problems.  I was just getting used to things, when I was informed that I had read my maximum of eight articles for the month.

Well, I've been a subscriber since sometime B.C. (before computers), and will remain one until my death (thanks to a Trains lifetime subscription), after which I won't care about such things.  So, when I get this note, I'm a little upset, but I try to log in, as directed.

Then I find out that my password is not good.  Strange...  So then I try to reset that, and, according to the prompts, I was successful.  But when I try to log in again, I get the same old sh...tuff showing up.  And I haven't been able to keep up on the news all week.

Whom can I talk to, person to person, for help getting logged in and staying logged in?

I had the same issue right before and after the website "upgrade." I message the help desk email address and it was cleared up by the System Admins. Look a few days to get it fixed as you are not the only caboose on the service track. Let us know how it goes!

Carl:

I think the number of us getting the "eight limit" notification is far larger than the number of people who haven't received it.

The first time I received the message, Kalmbach customer service advised me to clear browsing history and cookies from my device, log back into TRAINS.com and try again. That worked. Now, you may find you have to do this every week or so but, once you know the "fix" it isn't quite as frustrating.

Same problem. I can get to the Forum, MR, etc. What is it with Kalmbach IT? I don't have these issues with any other site.

I'll betcha a donut that it's sub-contracted out. Meaning there are multiple layer between your first reporting a problem to Kalmbach staff, and it's ultimate resolution.

Plus, our priorities might not be identicle to their priorities.

I'm having EXACTLY the same problem.  I initially thought it was just me.  But, in looking at this thread, it looks like a lot of others are having it too.  Obviously, it a problem with the system itself rather than the individual users. Kalbach needs to get on this and get it fixed.

I have had the same issues. I used to use GOOGLE CHROME to log in to TRAINS.COM but since the change, I can not get it to accept my password. And I don't want to mess with deleting all the cookies and mess up other apps and what they have stored in their cookies. So I use the Microsoft browser and it accepted my password and all went well.

I have not been paying too close attention to the gongs -on on the Forums, of late.

Reading ths Thread got me to looking around!  Bang HeadThe Klambake's IT Dept has for years reared its head, and given us "Enhancements' Laugh [I think, to make everyone take a belt out of the Maalox bottle?]  I suspect it is the 'old game' of everry once in a while, one must stir the pot; so the rest of the organization knows you're still on the payroll?

So now they have 'monitized' some Cyber benefits for the unwashed masses.

The arvert says you get so many free looks at thngs (like the Newswire, AND OTHER THNGS.. And when that runs out (@1 Month(?) They slam the paywall shut.( So then, you've got to pony up by the month? )   After 20+ years, its gonna require a discussion with my CFO.   Kinda, sort of, sounds like one of those decisions that will end in "Sayonara'?Sigh

@6.99 a month, or $83.88 a year; and OH Yeah....a free(?) Tee Shirt..  Whistling
