OK, so what railroad if any has the contract for hauling Lucid Automotive cars to market?    What surprised me about this firm is they placed their assembly plant in Arizona which is rather wierd as far as shipping costs are concerned.    I would have expected it to be more centralized.    Anyone know what railroad this is on or which one has the shipping contract?      Plant is just comming online and should start shipping out later this year  (Lucid Air model).    Link below:

According to the company’s webpage, the manufacturing facility is located in Casa Grande, Arizona.  It is 47.4 miles southeast of Phoenix and according to Wikipedia it has one or more industrial parks served by the UP.

Looking just at the prices, the number of 'studios', and the kinds of location for those studios, I'm not sure the extent to which bulk rail will be a primary part of their shipping.  Even if it originates on one railroad -- if I remember correctly, this is on the ex-SP Sunset Route -- many prospective moves, probably with empty or highly-controlled backhaul, would involve other railroads.  I'd expect enclosed trucks to be the delivery method of choice, but would be delighted to hear otherwise.

Our usual speculative posters can work off some of their energy by following the announced 'studio' locations in the FAQ and tracing logical routes to their vicinities...

Note the pronounced left-coast emphasis; likely this is part of siting the plant in Arizona rather than closer to a 'distribution network' physical center.

Sleuths can in any case get as much information as anyone who's talkin' by asking Lucid directly at the address and number given 'if you have any other question'...

Casa Grande is on the UP mail line between El Paso and the  Los Angeles basin.

It would seem the Lucid people chose to be located near to but not in California; and with a railroad and interstate highways to provide access.

The plant is not close to rail service and as DC stated, closest road is Union Pacific (SP), some 2 miles SW of the UP Gila Sub MP 216. Uncle Pete's VIP Lead (ZTS-750) will get them part-way to the site, but not sure if the AMP-1 will even have rail service.

BNSF has an excellent autmobile loading-unloading site at El Mirage, AZ that is about 30-40 miles norhwest - near SunCity West.

It's an electric car - I agree the target market is California.  The company is based in Newark, CA.

Given the personal order method of sales, it would likely take several days to fill a single autorack.

Lucid has no contract with any C1. Nor are there any plans that I know of to haul by rail yet.. Lucid is only going to launch with an intial production of 30K vehicles. More than likely this will all go by truck. If I find more info I'll update my reply.

  Lucid, Fiskar, Rivian, Tesla, EV's, et al: :  Overmod seems to be spot-on, about the the Left Coast (?)  aspect of  their marketing aims. 
 
Just a little nosing around seems to indicate that Lucid seems to be an adjunct of Saudi money, some Slicone Valley, and Wall Street funds(?). 
 
My narrow point of view, seems to indicate, that outbound rail transit for Lucid Mtrs. will be minimal; possibly, some inbound might be needed, but it will be a product of their sales successes (?)    
 
Outside of that industry [E.V.'s ], its investing, banking, and finance needs; There is still not a lot of information, publically, available (?)   IMHO the 'Third-Rail' will be American politics. Sigh
 
At the very least t will be one to follow and see HOW, and who the winner's will beWhistling

Being from the Detroit area, I'd think that you would be very familiar with Reliable Carriers, as they are based in Canton.  They handle high value/prototype vehicles in enclosed, climate controlled van trailers.  Jack Cooper is all open trailer and URS's enclosed division is very small.

I'm familiar with Reliable Carriers. I do know GM uses RC as their preferred carrier of its prototypes. Though who's to say Lucid will pay the extra price of enclosed transport for all of its Lucid Air trim levels? Its highest trim level Air Dream Edition has a MSRP of $168K. That model will more than likely ship enclosed. The majority of production will be the Air Pure trim which has a MSRP of $69K. Also remember as far as Jack Cooper is concerned. They handle about 2/3 of Corvette production out of Bowling Green. The Vettes are shipped in a white protective cover.

Obviously the price of the cars are going to drop and volume will increase as was the case with TESLA.    I thought most of the readers here would have connected the dots but my bad on people looking at the past.    Same was true when gasoline cars first came out until Henry Ford developed Mass Production and lowered the price of each unit.     Over time some of these Electrical Car providers will crash and burn financially or merge away as what happened before.   

I have no doubts that after the consolidation within the EV industry and volume ramp ups kick in that some of these EV manufacturers will ship by rail in volume.    Will probably be GM and Ford again doing that initially.

Lucid is not targeting the general consumer vehicle market.. Lucid's market for all its current and future vehicle lineup is the luxury segment. Prices for their vehicles won't be dropping anytime soon, and if they do in the future the cost decrease will be insignificant. Lucid prides itself on hand built quality. Hence why it employs very little automation in their plant.
