Second locomotive out of five leading a grain train. Catch it while you can.
Or UP patched 6236, otherwise still in SP bloody nose, out of Memphis.
Or any of the UNpatched IC SD70s operating through Memphis regularly (add 1032 to the list as of yesterday) -- although there is one that 'spoils' the unpatched perfection by having a noodle in place of Death Star on the hood ends...
Yeah, IIRC it's the last active CNW painted locomotive on the UP. I imagine that there are at least a few more patches SPs running.
I wonder if the UP staff is still actively keeping 6706 out of the paint shop, as they were said to have done for so long?
Refresh my memory: is this one of the ones donated to a museum that were restored to service?
Weren't both remaining C&NW Dash-9's stored at the Illinois Railway Museum for a while, along with other UP power?
My understanding was that they were not donated, only stored temporarily.
You can keep those Deathstar SD70s, if I never see another it'll be too soon.

I believe the two Dash 9's that spent several periods stored at IRM, got repainted a couple of years back when UP made a push to repaint the last few locomotives from merger partners (Which happily sounds like wasn't accomplished fully).
Edit: Here's a news story that Trains ran about that.

According to the Trains story, both 'originals' were to receive very different road numbers ... perhaps this is an earlier 'patching' of C&NW like that given to SP/SSW units 'by 2016'. In which case ... could there be more still in Stagecoach than 6706?
Overmod I wonder if the UP staff is still actively keeping 6706 out of the paint shop, as they were said to have done for so long? Refresh my memory: is this one of the ones donated to a museum that were restored to service?
No, it's an OP Lifesaver AC44CW that supposedly been scheduled to be repainted for at least 2 years. I believe the two unpatched units have since been repainte.
