Before the powers-that-be remodelled Engineering Hall, there was a TV lounge in a public area that was shared by students, staff and faculty taking a break.  The TV was usually tuned alternatingly between Fox Cable, MSNBC or CNN depending on the political alignment of who was watching, but on a rare occasion someone was watching whatever show features Thomas the Tank engine.

The moral lessons of Thomas' adventures are as valid for small children as for university professors, but I thought the CGI animation was as at least  as good train watching as looking out the glass windows as a Wisconsin and Southern SD40-2 trundled by with a string of hoppers carrying "frac" sand.

If GM "killed the electric car", what am I doing standing next to an EV-1, a half a block from the WSOR tracks?
