About time for some good news. Just when you think you've seen everything:

Greetings from Alberta

I wonder if the commuter railroad would be required to let them continue to use the tracks in Santa Fe.
No wonder George R. R. Martin wasn't interested in saving his old high school which was about to be closed, "What for? I hated the place!" he said. He'd rather spend his money on a railroad! Wouldn't we all?
And now we know what the "RR" in his name really stands for!
Firstly: OP's original posting from Albuquerque Journal behind 'paywall'
Went we went through Lamy, NM. on #3 and #4[SWC] in Feburary of this year...Santa Fe Southern equipment parked there looked pretty forlorn and abandoned.

I can see it just fine, and I do not subscribe to any American newspapers.
What browser are you using? Do you have any adblocker type software installed?

Never too old to have a happy childhood!
I got to it without a problem. It was slow to load the top photo, but it all, except some ads, showed up just fine.

When I open my OP's link with Chrome I get a popup message urging me to subscribe, but it is different than the one Balt posted. I can make it go away by clicking a 'X' in the upper right hand corner of the popup, and then I can read the article normally.
When using my normal browser (latest Firefox with Ghostery installed) I don't get any popups or other such impediments, which is why I felt comfortable posting that link.
I clear cookies and all other data from both browsers on a regular basis.

Thanks, 'Dude' and others... I worked with the link and tried several things..Got the story to 'come clean'. Firefox, at time can make some of these sites do wierd stuff...I have had to use M/S Edge to be able to do responses to Private Messages on these website... one browser seems to work for a while, and then it won't ...At times the Internet around here is like Forest Gumps line: "... like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get..."
Most of the old Santa Fe Branch is not tied to the commuter operation until you get into town. (passenger line is more on the alignment of the old NMCentral until you get into town)...I fear the lure of shiny toys here blinded someone (again) from the reality of the fact you now own a railroad. That 18 mile line is almost all curves, light rail (90#) and a healthy climb. Staked or strungline all the curves up there along with doing rail profiles on rediculously worn rail. FRA has been lenient over the years, but do not expect that to last any longer with passengers involved. (Local politicians did a pretty good job of killing the commercial side of the branch years ago with developers passing $$$ under the table - Typical NM)P T Barnum's old addage will strike once again.
