I lived in Saskatoon for years but moved out about fifteen years ago. Is CP Rail still moving through there? I understand that the rail exchange with CN Rail at Warman and 33rd has been pulled up. If so, where has it been moved to?
CP still cuts through the heart of the city. I'm stopped by their trains frequently at that very busy intersection by the old station. Mostly tank cars.
As for Warman, that's on the way back up North to La Ronge and the highway has an overpass over the sprawling railroad tracks and yards there. I try to glimpse sideways, always seem to be strings of cars there.
Twenty fifth and Idylwyld is a very busy corner, I remeber that very well. Is there still very long and heavy potash trains coming through the middle of Saskatoon west side?
BTW: is there a CP connection from Saskatoon to Moose Jaw heavy haul division, or was there ever a connection between these 2 cities?
There was a connection from Wilkie to Moose Jaw through Kerrobert but the line has been discontined. The rail bridge at Outlook was taken out of service for rail traffic since the late 80s, early 90s. The line after Outlook went through Tuxford before entering Moose Jaw.
Warman and 33rd are streets, not the town of Warman which is north of Saskatoon and CP does not go anywhere near it.
The is a connection on the west side of town at Circle Drive and 11th right at the diamond. I don't know if they interchange there though.
