Every attempt to access the forum was met with a Time Out Response.

I experienced the same thing, and you, me and Chuck have all posted the same thread at the same time today.

Since 3 threads about this is far too many I have deleted mine.

It will be interesting to learn the cause of the issue.

I called this morning. Server issue which I figured. Easy enough to find the phone number.

I am wondering if they did a major changeover. Faster logging in now.

I second that.

I was wondering if I had the "can't login with my laptop" issue, but did note that the paid features (e.g. Newswire") were working (makes sense to prioritize paid services).

If it were 'pay per view' you would have a point.  It's not.  No point.

Newswire is hosted on a different server (trn.trains.com).  The functions that were down were those hosted on the community server (cs.trains.com).  I don't think this is a case where the paying folks got attention first, although Kalmbach tech has made it clear in the past that "non-money" issues with site code are a relatively low priority.

There have been a couple more outages in recent days.  Even this afternoon I was unable to get in for about a couple hours.

This has happened a few times now.

I had the same issue Thursday as well, funny thing was that the site was working when I started a reply to Dave K., but had stopped working when I hit the "Submit Your Reply" button. Just hope the outage wasn't the forum software expressing its opinion about the quality of my post....

I was going to say something snarky (with tongue planted firmly in cheek) about not flattering yourself, but I decided against it....  Smile, Wink & Grin
