Just saw an episode of Globetrekker on pbs last week where the host traveled the rail line in Bolivia through Chile to the sea. Many steam relics pictured. VW buses converted to rail use provided transport. Short “box car” trains transport metals ore. A possible new traffic source is lithium, which is abundantly available in the region.
