The more I learn about this operation the more I like it and am encouraged about its future prospects, this has the potential to become another Alberta Prairie and really revitalize the towns.
It is about 11 miles from Cudworth to Wakaw, which gives a one-way running time of 45 minutes to 1 hour at typical grain branchline speeds, and there is something to do at the turnaround point, and they are really trying to add other entertainment, to make it more than "just a train ride".
That line also still has freight service, which means the passenger operation is not on its own with regard to funding major locomotive and track repairs. For comparison, I have it on good authority that Alberta Prairie does not do much better than break even on their passenger operations, the vast majority of their profits come from freight and car storage fees.
I will have to make a trip to Saskatchewan and ride this line.
Greetings from Alberta
