raphm, you are dreaming if you think the UTU or the carriers ever made a serious offer to the BLE to negotiate a position on the ground for an engineer. If you believe what the CN tells you you are also very foolish. After all a CN subsidiary manufactures the Canac equipment. The equipment they put on the locomotives, in the yard I work in, is less than a year old. Hardly a week goes by that a remote locomotive doesn't shoot craps. The funny thing is they will continue to use the locomotive in manual mode. My belief is it can only get worse.
