Gee you would think that the good people of Milwaukee would be good enough to answer the phone. Lord knows after rail fanning the Sherman Park neighborhood of Beer-town those folks could use the jobs.
So, you're saying the folks in Ocala aren't good enough to take your call?
Just askin'.
Like other companies, Kalmbach has outsourced some of their operations to other parties. A while back I received a renewal message (forget if it was in the mail or an e-mail) that had the Florida address. I contacted Kalmbach to make sure it was legitimate. It was.

At least it was in the US...
We have a call center near here. They've contracted with a number of companies over the years.

Kalmbach is in the buiness of making magazines. They hire professionals to manage the distribution of them. Very similar to how a paper mill makes paper, then hires shipping professionals - the railroads - to get the paper to the printers.

Kalmbach hasn't been in Milwaukee for several decades running now. They are at the Corporate Crossroads Office Center in Waukesha (Milwaukee Suburb) overlooking I-94 near Goerke's Corners. The problem with a call center is you cannot plop one anywhere. I used to consult with IBM on Call Center software a while back. Most Call Centers need heavy telecom and computer wiring within the building itself plus access to more than one fiber cable off the Publicly Switched Telephone Network. They typically have more than one PBX internally as well. If it is a really large call center they will just use a Central Office Switch.
Your not going to find that type of building anywhere near Sherman Park. They typically prefer industrial areas for call centers and large warehouse type buildings with few if any windows.

The one here is in an old Woolworth's. The store closed and nobody wanted in for retail. It's right downtown.
Call centers are looking for the cheapest square foot rental rates for bulding areas that can be rapidly reconfigured from both a physical space and telecom/data facilities to meet their every changing needs. Suburban 'industrial warehouse' space fits the bill.
The CSX Baltimore Dispatch and Division Offices were constructed in such space. Originally starting with the formation of the Baltimore Terminal Services Center in 1978. Chessie System leased 10000 sq. feet (3 bays) for approximately $3.00/sqft at a time when downtown office space was going for $12-15/sqft. Over the years more departments were brought into the same building by leasing additional spaces in the building. When I retired CSX leased 2/3 of the building. The remaing spaces were leased by a variety of business'.
