Why is Long Bridge Park in Arlington, VA is not in this Hot Spots, Train-Watching Locations in this book?? This Location should have been this book.
It must be remembered a lot of places are well known, but access is limited. The Colton Flyover in Colton, CA is such a place, where the UP Sunset Route now flies over the BNSF Transcon, where between 80 and 120 trains a day visit.
The above photos were shot on August 30, 2013 while the flyover still had construction taking place, and the Transcon (second opening back) has ballast blocking the tracks.
Then, too, there is only so much a single book can include, and I believe I read in my colleague’s copy that another effort may be in the works in the future.

They are about about 100 place to watch trains in USA not 75 Hot Spots.

I don't have the book, so can't comment specifically.
I'll offer that there are probably thousands of spots to watch trains that have decent levels of traffic and safe, easy public access. Only a few are designated as such. That's why Rochelle has a railroad park now - the city noticed that railfans gathered there to watch trains.
And there are an equal number of spots that might have the traffic, but don't have the access, as KP advises.
If you've got a spot you think should make the book, document why (train count, amenities, etc) and send it to Kalmbach. Maybe your spot will make the next edition.

Sounds like you could author a couple of "Hot Spots" articles for the magazine. Time to get writing!
