I am in St.Catharines and I have noticed that the highway 406 has turned into a pure skating rinque. There are several accidents including a 6 car pile-up my mother just saw on her way from work. It must be bad because 3 police cars, 4 fire trucks and 3 ambulances have been called.

Please everybody on the forum becareful today and during the holidays. I want to hear from you when this is all over; alive and unharmed please.

Merry Christmas

...Here in Indiana we have our first real taste of Winter...{8" Central Indiana}, this season and the southern part of the state has been hit hard form the Winter front that moved in and through from the southwest. Sun is shining now but downstate received up to 18" and some as much as 33" of the stuff...
So, everyone out there that must travel...be careful.
And Merry Christmas to all.....

Arkansas is pretty much shut down yesterday. Ice and Snow. Now we deal with very cold temperatures. I recieved word that it took folks as much as 2-1/2 hours to travel 10 miles to the LHS. (Dont ask me why they want to go out in that storm)

At the height of the storm the National Weather Service indicated that to be outdoors or traveling is to put life at risk.

Late last Monday night, I heard a report on the car radio of an 80 car pileup on Rte 80 in Pennsylvania near the Ohio Border...I believe sharply falling temps and snow squalls contributed to the pileup. Dave Williams http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nsaltoonajohnstown

The storm system is over us now, but it went up to 60 degrees! When it clears out tonight, back down to 17 degress. Its been like that all fall here.

Thank God nobody was killed. I wish people would drive more defensive when there is threatening weather about as there is no guarentee people will be so fortunate as to escape with their lives.

That stretch of Route 80 can be brutal in Winter...In searching for the article above, I found 2 other accidents within the past year or so during Snow squalls..One notable one was a 50 car pileup this past January that resulted in 20 miles of Rte 80 being closed between Milesburg and Lock Haven, Pa....I've driven that stretch many times, and on one occasion last Winter, I was heading westbound through the Lock Haven area and all of a sudden, you couldn't see one or two car lengths ahead of you, the snow was that intense.
