You cannot meet her!  She will meet you.  You can only facilitate the discovery.  Be kind to everyone, gentle to everyone, calm toward everyone, reserved in your expressions, and quiet.  Tip your hat (if you wear one) to every member of the fairer sex, young, old, ugly, pretty, demure, or obnoxious.  Open the door to anybody that is proceeding through one.  Practice this and practice this, until it is second nature so that IF she finds you, you will not become a liar.

My mother always said, "A man chases a woman until she catches him!"  I'd say that if you are standing still, you will be a lot easier to catch!  Just be careful of the bait, there are just as many phony women as there are men... just don't be one yourself.

Visiting Las Vegas, NV in Spirit

Las Vegas is considered one of the gabling meccas of the world.  While having visited the Milepost 333 town on the Union Pacific “Los Angeles & Salt Lake” mainline a number of times over the decades, I personally have never left anything at a one armed bandit, but pass through the “City of Sin” only with railfan interests, such as the conversion of target signals to the color light type on Cima Hill in the M.P. 250 area on the back roads to Las Vegas.

September 7, 2015

But, considering (“considering”) Las Vegas in spirit (not actually being there) has benefits for one seeking a lifelong mate.  The odds (“odds”) are stacked way, way against gamblers.  Likewise, with finding a mate, especially for finding a railfan one!

Not to bring the no-no religion to the forum, but the Genesis account has a real gem in the account about obtaining a mate and married life.  The male was GIVEN a mate!  Unfortunately, according to the account, he did what he was instructed not to do, and hence as offspring we are stuck with finding our own mates.  That account does say in the judgment against the female that she would have a “craving” for her husband, caused by another no-no to discuss at the forum.  If they had not been disobedient, that craving, I perceived, would be an inner sense of happily desiring what her mate desired.  So, if we were perfect, our mates would come to desire railfanning without any arm twisting on our part.  Since that is NOT the case presently, we have to claw and fight to find a mate halfway compatible to us, and that often has worse than Las Vegas gambling odds!

So, CandOforProgress2, be realistic and consider your odds, what the chances are for finding what you desire, and make adjusts in a realistic way.

Some months ago I was visiting my home turf of Cajon Pass.  A lady of unknown age (but likely younger than this old geezer) in a smaller semi-sports car stopped, got a camera out, and shot a few photos of a passing train.  Putting her camera away and getting back in her car, she had recognized me as a railfan (I had a camera too), and she waved at me, and I waved back.  I thought to myself, “Where was this gall when I was single? … A blond no less!”  So, there ARE female railfans out there, but finding them has Las Vegas odds …You also may ponder where railfan gals may (“may,” not that they will) be found, like model railroad clubs, photography associations, etc.  And, foremost, as previously posted about, have a mindset of thinking of others and what they may like and why.

Well, you could hang out trackside, and just kidnap the first pretty girl you happen to find, but that might be frowned upon...

There are sites for all kinds of dates, make one for train lovers.

You could call it "railfansonly.com" and make a bundle on it!

Of course, you would need to pay me for my idea, so.... I would make a small bundle.

And yes, I expect my check to be in the mail, and it not to bounce!

True story:

I met my wife at work. We found that we had a lot in common, including a love of trains. After we got married, we discovered that we didn't have the perfect relationship we thought we had. Once we divorced, we decided that we would stay in touch, partly for the sake of our daughter, and partly because we still had common interests. In short, we have remained friends even though we are no longer married. That's probably a rare situation, but it's true. Now we live a couple thousand miles apart. When I visited recently I was able to see her, our daughter, and our grandkids. We also engaged in some railfan activities together.

If I were you, I would not concentrate on finding a railfan to marry. Concentrate on somebody you can love and who loves you and with whom you can build a life. If she loves you, she can tolerate and accommodate your hobbies whether she shares them or not. And if you love her, you can tolerate and accommodate hers.

Okay, so I think I have it:  Look for an older woman who is glad to see you each morning but can't remember who you are.  Tell her she likes trains and that you're going to make her day most enjoyable.  On the days it doesn't go so well, reread the first sentence.

Sounds like the plot for a movie.  Wait - it already is:  "50 First Dates," Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler.

I seriously doubt C&O is looking.  Watch an episode of "Cops" and you will see that they just "find" each other.  For every Jack there is a Jill - on any level you want and the Jills are running like mad after the C&O's of this world.  And with the latest scandals, not all are unemployed and/or homeless.

Don't look for a wife; do what you enjoy doing, and you may well meet a woman whom, in time, you come to appreciate so much that you want to marry.

Reminds me of the woman who was a serious football fan. While watching a game with several male co-workers, one of the men asked her, "Does your husband like football?" "Yes, he does," she replied. "Good!" he says. "It would be a shame to waste a wife like you on a man who doesn't like football."

Just put yourself out there and be open to new experiences.. If you meet the "right one" it won't matter if she likes trains or not.

There is a woman on staff at Trains...From 1972 to about 1990ish Dungeons and Dragons and role playing games were a male only onclave. Then movies like Harry Potter and the Vampire Genre came out that mixed fantasy and romance. Then young women and nerdy became cool. If we could bring the romance back to the rails via some good movies and romance storys then we might be on to something. Murder on the Orient Express with Johney Depp was a start..though it seems that movie flopped. We male railroad foamers go on and on about tech specs but we need to tell more storys and have more romance.Broken Heart We have broken too many hearts by our obbsesion with details and need to look at the whole picture

CandOforprogress2 (2-14):

Could you please restate your above paragraph in 10 words or less so we all know exactly what your point was, and how it relates to your original post?

It has been recommended to you before, but after taking a class on lecturing most people tend to be able to articulate matters better, and know how to stay on topic, on theme if you will.

ALSO, being ABLE to stay on a subject with a date will impress them.  And, you definitely want to impress a girl that you like …

Sure- Nerdy train geek seeks Nerdette whoes instrests would include trains, Star Trek and Dungeons and Dragons. Breakdown- this is more likley now then 20 years ago as more women are into engineering and role playing games. The number of women who are taking engineering at RIT,MIT and Carneigie are up. The intrest by the fairer sex in Role Playing Games and Sceince Fiction can be atributed to JK Rowling and Sci-Fi Romance Novels.

Stop looking at pictures that make you drool.  I had to curtail my searching for images of steam locomotives for that reason.

A man surnamed Jiang from Beijing proposed to his girlfriend on a high-speed train heading to Chengdu from Beijing days before the 2018 Valentine’s Day.

The high-speed train proposal was planned by Jiang and his friends two months ago as a big surprise for his girlfriend.

“I will marry him, and I appreciate the romance he created,” Jiang’s girlfriend said....

I like to say that if my wife can put up with me, I sure as heck can put up with her. Thats worked for me for 58 years. My daughter still laughs at the time when she was dating her future husband and they were in the car together with my wife and me. I drove into the parking lot at a train station (It was about time for the westbound Amtrak) and he was not aware of my railfan proclivities. He wondered what we were doing. I still don't think he comprehends it.

As much as I like trains and model railroading, those interests in a wife would be pretty low on my list.

Go with good character and shared values and you'll never have much problem with your hobbies - provided they don't become an obsession....Geeked
