I went with Robert Jordan's image, since it was the only one that fit the theme directly. All the others required explanation; the thanks expressed are real and heartfelt but can only be found in the captions. As photographers we have all been thankful at times, when the train finally showed up just before sunset, or the clouds cleared in the nick of time, or the meet occurred in front of us, but that is personal and not actually conveyed in the resulting image, however superb.
I am probably the only motorcyclist who cheered mightily on waking up when I saw that the temperature was below freezing. I knew the exhaust from CPR's Hudson 2816 was going to be spectacular. It was, and yes I was thankful, but that personal emotion is not on display in the result.
