I agree that the Genesis reminds me of a giant razor blade commercial- squared off, stainless steel shoebox on wheels. I've heard about the "control desk" controversy, too- it's an uncomfortable arrangment for an engineer to operate on a long haul. <br /> <br />Since I'm not an engineer, I have to judge a lot of what I don't like by appearances. I never saw a Southern Pacific diesel I liked, because they were all rusty and dirty when I saw them. That's a function of a railroad getting ready to go belly up... trying to make do with what you have, with as little attention to maintenance and appearance as you can get away with. <br /> <br />I don't like the way KCS locomotives look. I can't put my finger on why, exactly- they sure are visible from a safety point of view, and I guess they do the job from a running standpoint. They just look, ah, plain ol' ugly. Give me an old Santa Fe Warbonnet any day of the week. <br /> <br />Erik
