I just saw the most interesting train go through the diamond on the UP.

A green MOW caboose one flat car, a car mounted crane and another flat car.

It did not seem to have any motive power but blew for the diamod crossing.

Can anyone enlighten me on this strange consist?

Thanks for the reply unfortunately when trying to open the link You Tube gave me an error message. I assume that it must have been an American self-propelled crane with a large flat car like base.

Sounds like B&B's pile driver/ bridge crane on the loose, moving between sites.

Or a Burro crane - usually used for MOW work - with a couple flats to either unload or pick up rails and OTM (Other Track Materials).

Thanks Paul. The consist was extremely odd as the caboose was leading the flat car ahead of the crane. They were headed west toward Clinton IA. I have never seen a Burro crane that had that long a wheelbase appx. the same length as the flat cars.

Thanks Mudchicken.

Turns out it was a Burro crane with a long wheel base positioned two cars behind the caboose heading west toward Clinto IA. I have never seen a self-propelled crane with that long of a wheelbase sort of threw me for a loop.
