During the First World War, the standard gauge railroads were taken over and operated by USRA. How did this affect the narrow gauge railroads of Colordao, specifically the Rio Grande Southern, Colordao and Southern, Uintah and Denver and Rio Grande Western?
On the standard gauge front, the USRA basically hastened the inevitable death of the Colorado Midland.
