Kansas Shortline Questions
Posted by SFbrkmn on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 6:14 PM

When did these KS shortlines begin (and end) operations? Northeast Kansas & Missouri, Topeka & Parnell, Dodge City Ford & Bucklin, Southeast KS RR. Does Missouri, Northern Arkansas still run into Ft.Scott? When did they begin on that route?

Northeast Kansas & Missouri (RailAmerica) Got sucked back into UP when it upgraded the KP and Marysville Segments as a relief valve for the UP Transcon in April 2016. The corporate structure of the line was a mess anyhow (Mid Michigan RR?)

Dodge City Ford & Bucklin (CRIP branchline, Dodge City over to the Cotton Rock at Bucklin ... The railroad used to go further SW of Dodge {Arkansas Kansas & Colorado RR} and their were plans never carried out to fruition [ Graded and partially built to Montezuma KS / Dodge City Montezuma & Trindad RR 1887-1895] after the Santa Fe DC&CV got going in 1913) was owned by Wright City Co-Op for years and was trying to be a tourist trap railroad. It is now Boot Hill & Western, at least the West Half from Dodge to Willroads/Ford. The east half is sorta in limbo/ railbanked - according to STB.

SEK was rolled into SKOL (Both Watco) by July 2000 in an overdue simplification move.
