EU Getting Closer to An AAR Type Approval Process

It looks like the EU is setting up an European wide approval process similar to what we have here. Giving this authority to the ERA further deminishes the role of the UIC.

Not so much the UIC, but rather each country's technical bureau such as the EBA in Germany(Eisenbahn Bundesamt für Verkehr).

Does this pretty much kill the "notified body" network? Or do they still do the testing and submit the results to the ERA?

Aren't the UIC standards now meaningless?

If so hope they would adopt something more modern.
