Longshoreman Strike New York, New Jersey Ports
Posted by Victrola1 on Friday, January 29, 2016 3:09 PM

More than 1,000 longshoremen have walked off the job at ports in New York and New Jersey, putting ship unloading at a standstill. The walkout began at about 11 a.m. Friday. It wasn't immediately clear what prompted the action. No ships were being unloaded and no trucks were being allowed to enter the port.

From what I've read on www.northjersey.com  and www.nj.com  it seems to have caused quite a bit of disruption in the trucking industry, railroads weren't mentioned.

At any rate, this was a "wildcat" strike which I believe has ended.

Sounds like the union was just trying to get someone's attention.
