I rode the Coast Starlight before things really went downhill and the Pacific Parlor Car service was great. The Crescent had terrific food. The California Zephyr had wonderful scenery. The Southwest Chief is a real party train...folks hooking up left and right. .. some got thrown off. The most interesting was the overnight service between Toronto and Montreal...I think is was called Constellation. Using the older, restored equipment was a step back in time, and comfortable...a dome, a drink and the full moon on the lake at midnight...doesn't get much better. All had downsides...but I had fun...ride 'em while you can.
