Wacky Scorpion episode 'Crazy Train' on CBS
Posted by MikeF90 on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 7:06 PM

Last night I stumbled upon another great example of the 'Hollywood reality suspension force field' in action. The 'plot' centers around how the cast tries to regain control of a subway train remotely controlled by bad guys, see Wikipedia or IMDB later for plot details I don't get right :-).  Some observations:

- First off, no one thinks to cut off power to the train!
- the tracks are ballasted with gravel (!) and look about 60#, good for a 150 y/o narrow gauge maybe
- above ground ROW appears to run through narrow back alleys with no fencing
- the subway runs to from DTLA to Santa Monica (too soon). at least the interiors look like Metro Red Line cars

Try to see this on demand, your DVR, or reruns later - you might get a chuckle or two.

I don’t know if it was the same show you watched, but my wife had a Scorpion show on not too long ago and it caught my attention because it sounded like trains were involved.  I looked and saw trains, so watched the episode.  It was abound a passenger train out of Bakersfield to I think Los Angeles -- first blunder.  It was blunder after blunder.  The scenes that really caught my attention were when the brakes were locked up and screech and sparking all the way, and the train keep going and going and going.  Rather unrealistic.  A light passenger train is not anywhere near an overloaded potash train like what run away on Cajon Pass in May 1989.  If that episode is not the one you are referencing, then Scorpion has two train episodes …

Hey, Mike.  Were you holding on to your chair scared stiff when you watched whatever episode you watched? (Hehehe.)

I tried to watch a non-train related episode of Scorpion last night and couldn't make it more than five minutes. The writing is either inept and/or aimed at low-IQ preteens; both the dialog and plot were insulting. Why is this show in a second season?

Yes, unfortunately for trains.

No, I was regretting not saving an empty 'barf bag' from my recent trip to Hawaii. Ick!
