Hey macguy! That really does surprise me as I must be one of the tortoises on the Forum heh heh...I am learning a lot ont his Forum, but I hope I have been able to make some sort of contributions with my posts.

Jeez I am still a long way off about near half way to three stars, it is slow going, but every time I look at my average per day I think of it as HP/TON, I need at least 0.8 to slog a coal train and get to the big numbers . . .

BC Rail stopped its passenger service before the sale to CN.

They had been running Budd RDCs from Vancouver to Lillooet (I think). There is now a reduced service run in very small four wheel railcars to isolated communities on the line at the North end of the isolated section, south of Lillooet.

There was a luxury tourist train run on the BCR for a short while, but it too closed before the sale. It was called the "Whistler Northwind " (or something like that).

BC Rail also ran the "Royal Hudson" tourist train for several years, with the ex CPR 4-6-4 2860, and also with an ex CPR 2-8-0 3716. This used cars painted in CPR red.

Thanks Peter. [:)] The four wheel railcars sound similar to the ones used in the UK years ago [?] - I think Class 126??? (Were available in HO from Hornby...)

THe Budd units ran through to Prince George , calling at Lillooet en route , yes it was called the Whistler Northwind but thats all been sold off . No passenger service at present , however there are plans for 2006 for a new sevice from Vancouver to Whistler with Colorado railcar & a new luxury service from Whistler to Jasper via Prince George run by Rocky Mountain Railtours -- we will have to wait on how good they both are ! As a side point we have 3 Ex BCR Budd cars at the West Coast Heritage Park in Squamish as well as #2860 Royal Hudson.
The small 4 wheel railcars are like overgrown speeders taking around 20 odd passengers -limit ed to service into Lillooet from Seton Portage .

Yes, the Royal Hudson was good times, I rode it many times as a youngster, and I also took the BUDDs all the way up to Prince George and back one time many years ago.

I look forward to seeing what these Rocky Mountaineer folks bring on-line, they seem to be doing an excellent job with their current runs up and down the Fraser Canyon.

I hope the Rocky Mountaineer people really make a run of it, because the old BC Rail right-of-way is absolutely fantastic for scenery, and it doesn't sound like there will be too much traffic on the line, so the passenger trains will likely just take their time.

Of course nothing would beat seeing the Royal Hudson back in action again. [:)]
Hopefully before the 2010 Olympics here in BC.

The BC railcars are much smaller than the BR "railbuses" which were classes 141 to 144 on BR. I can't recall which ones Hornby modelled, but they used the Leyland body panels.
