Sorry for posting this here but I can't get any results from contacting trains.com.
How many posts are moderated for new members? I've had about 10 posts and I'm still being moderated. It makes it difficult to have your reply be on topic and make sense when it takes up to 48 hours for the reply to be posted. It's a bit annoying. I can understand the puprose as I used to run a forum myslef, but I think trolls can be weeded out after two posts.
You would think they could have...no clue as to how long, but stick around.

The mods are frequently OTL.

Possible explanation from a former moderator on here: I'm sure things have changed a bit, but here's probably how it works: When you open an account, the first certain number of your posts go to a never-never land where a moderator has to approve them before they show up on the forum. That number is a default of whatever they set it to, 3,6,12, whatever. That is their way of determining that you are not one of the re-occuring trolls that the moderators fight off continually. Once you hit the magic number, it's probably automatic that your account becomes unmoderated. Generally, the moderators are not on this forum much. Therefore, they don't neccesarily see that there are posts in the que waiting for a moderator to approve. When they do come on here, there is a section of the forum only they can see. In that section is posts by new members in the que for approval. Alos, there is the Report Abuse section which has those posts someone wanted to bring to the attention of a moderator. To be honest, when the moderator is probably not reading your posts, but simply approving them. Perhaps your first couple of posts were enough to convince the moderator you were OK, and after that it was just a matter of hitting the approve button. If you want a moderator to actually read a post from you, use the Report Abuse function below a post. That pops into a forum area that all the moderators see and read. If it were me, I'd tell them what a nice harmless guy I am, and that I'm anxious to get out there on the forum in real time. Then ask if they could unmoderate your account. The other option is to make about a dozen harmless posts all over the forums, in hopes that you'll hit the magic number and the system will automatically take you off moderation. But please note- if you are one of the reoccuring trolls that keep popping up, the forum members can usually spot you very quickly, and you'll be gone. I will say that my troll radar suggests that you don't fit that category. Welcome to the forums.
Thanks to Chris / CopCarSS for my avatar.

Just like Saturday Night Live's Festrunk brothers (played by Steve Martin and Dan Aykroyd)?
lol, I was think OTL=Out of the Loop. Seems all is well in Trains land as my posts are no longer being moderated. Thanks guys! It's nice to be here. I'm learning so much. :)
Maybe 15 was the magic number before the moderation defaults kicks off by itself. ..... Or maybe a moderator did read your posts, decided you weren't an axe murderer and took off the moderation default.

It might have been worse than that, he could have been futuremodal.

Maybe the mods just hate the Rock Island?
