If a five platform intermodal car is equivalent to three operative brakes and a three plaform intermodal car is equivalent to two operative brakes, how many operative bakes does a two platform articulated auto carrier equate to?
How many brake systems are on the car? That 5 platform car has 6 trucks, and 3 brake pistons being driven. The 3 platform car has 4 trucks and 2 pistons driving the brake shoes. The 2 unit auto carrier has 3 trucks, but how many brake pistons are driving the brake shoes on the 3 sets of trucks under it? I have not looked, but I suspect someone here as 'looked' under one of these cars. Maybe a copy of the railroad's special instructions has your answer.
