New Amtrak run
Posted by richg1998 on Saturday, December 20, 2014 9:27 AM

New track, signals being tested this weeek. Amtrak running test at speeds.

There has been no passenger service in this area for many years. Just slow moving Pan Am Railway freights. Max of 20 mph maybe twice a day.  A coal train once in a while but that has stopped as a local power company is shutting down a coal power plant in holyoke, Ma.

Many locals cross the rails to and from in Northampton, Ma alone. I have carried my bike across to access another rail trail many time. No more of that.

The tunnel has yet to be built.

I know about four places to cross under and a couple street crossings with signals.

Going to be interesting.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.

Pretty sure he means a pedestrian underpass or 'subway' to let folks (like college students) get across without trespassing.

Obviously a pedestrian tunnel. Beats carrying a bike across the tracks. Human nature being what it is, some still will carry their bike across.

Obvious to you maybe, but not obvious to some of us reading your post. It would also be nice if you'd take pity on those of us who don't live in your neck of the woods and mention the location in your thread subject.
