Traffic Jam in Moscow

I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.

I don't have a leg to stand on.

Ilya, Welcome to the real world... No where near the' problems' like Tokyo 'strap hangers', seem to have: 'pushers to pack them into the trains, and masses of riders.     One thing about the Moscow Metro, it is certainly well lighted, and not the dingy tubes that many other riders in other places around the orld have to contend with.   Ilya, Get a Grip!   Bang Head

This brings up several questions.

1.  Stalin had the Metro built.  But has there been any expansion since?

2.  What is the population now as compared to just after WW-2?

3.  Is Putin spending his money on military expenses instead of the masses?

4.  Has Russia not seen what the example of China's vast expansion of HSR, Intercity, metro systems had accomplished for China's mobility & economic growth?

5.  Do most Moscow residents have no other method of transportation?

6.  What is the bus situation there and how bumpy are the roads?

I've heard that they built subway lines and stations even during the war.

From photos and vidieos I have seen, it appears that the main roads in Moscow are built to a high standard and well maintained.

Outside the cities the roads are sometimes not very good.  Parts of this highway in Siberia may be by far the worst:

A short examination of videos on Youtube explains why any visitors are far safer taking the subway/metro instead of risking driving a rental or taking a bus.
