Looking on the rochell web cam i saw a UPtrain heading from Clinton Iowa to Proviso with a new go transit loco in their new paint as the third unit . What up with that? rambo1..
New or repainted locomotives have to be moved to their owners somehow, and it can't be by highway.
Most carriers train handling rules require locomotives to be handled in the locomotive consist - no matter if the are being used as working power, being handled dead in tow to a shop or being a revenue move from manufacturer to ultimate owner.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
I see these engines, and other engines from short lines or leasing companies, moving on UP trains dead-in-consist every so often. They are going/coming from a locomotive contractor shop facility out west.
