Holy moley...I guess summer is officially over folks...I turned on the Rochelle webcam on my laptop only to see SNOW coming down (albiet a very light snow...but snow just the same) - written as tears stream down my face! Well, I guess I'd better plan on a jacket as I prepare to venture trackside at Eola to see the NS heritage units come through town later this morning as reported on Facebook!
As me and my brother used to say when we were kids, "Summer is shot in the a$$." Used to say that on July 4th. Then the day school let out. Then on Memorial Day. Drove my mother nuts.
Well, the weather out here hasn't gotten the memo yet. Another big electric bill coming this month.
The real reason summer is over today (October 4) is it's the last day the Empire Builder stops at Glacier Park Station (East Glacier Park) signaling the end to another summer tourist season at Glacier National Park. Beginning October 5, Amtrak trains stop instead at nearby Browning for the next 7 months.

Thank goodness! No more mid-to-high 90's every day, no more car interior temps over 110 degrees, no more suffocating humidity, no more $400+ monthly electric bills. Now if we could just have a couple of good cold nights so the gazillions of bloodthirsy mosquitos would go away, life would be great.
With a forecast high of 80F today, and high's in the 70's for the rest of the week, it ain't over here.

Around here summer ends Oct 30th, Halloween marks fall, Thanksgiving the start of cool weather (50 degrees F). and March is spring, usually starting to cut the grass in March.
