Anyone remember the Wabash main across Missouri?

"the first diesel road units were delivered to the moberly division in 1946...." <br />"the summer of 1949 saw powerful three unit emd's taking over the manefest assignments and the 'wabash cannonball...." <br /> photo of an E 8 #1007 wabash cannonball from 1952. <br />all of above sourced from "wabash" donald heimburger. <br />as an aside the wabash cannonball ran from st louis to detroit. the song ( a great one) makes very little historical sense.
