Tonight, though really dark, it is working in Internet Explorer (can see street lights and car headlighs/taillights).

Semper, is there a reason you are still using Explorer? Some years ago, when Edge was still new, I had problems using it for the cam, and when MS took away my access to Explorer, you showed me how to get it back. Later, (after revisions?) Edge started working, but Explorer had problems, so I've been using Edge for some time.

I like the old layout of the controls and parts of the display in IE. I also visit a couple of web sites that still do not work (well) in Edge (as of the last time I tried them, which, admittedly as been a while).
But mainly because I am a grouchy old man that does not like the "better ideas" that get put into new programs that just don't fit my way of doing thngs. There is always some new programmer that wants to make things their way, just because they want to make things their way. I go by the adage that just because you CAN do something is no reason to actually do so. And so far, the cosmetic changes from IE to Edge are just that, they dood it that way just cuz they could, not because it added any functionality or improved the operation, and a lot of it is a step backward in useability.

I maintain that they monitor which features people use the most and take those features out in the next "upgrade."
I'm still running Vista and do the bulk of my browsing in Chrome. I don't even bother with the Rochelle cam any more as there are more interesting cams available that will work on my current set up.

Safari has given me few problems in the five or so years (at least) that I've used it. Checked tonight, and it seems to be functioning, even in the dark.(We need floodlights there that the crews and neighbors won't complain about!)

I've been to Deshler at night with the current lighting set-up. If you're sitting at the park, you wonder if there's enough light to see the trains, but if you look at the diamond cam, the trains are well lit. I don't think the crews have a problem with it.
It would be much cheaper to put in a good quality camera. If you happen to catch Railstream's Rochelle camera, you'll see that there's plenty of light at night to figure out what's going on.

But I have another question.
Recently I have noticed that, during the night there is a pool of light on the ground on the extreme right side of the image ffrom something just off the scene to the right. Maybe it is new, or maybe I have just noticed it because of the snow on the ground. I considered maybe it was a new city street light, but I also wonder if it is a light on the side of a control bungalow.
Last night and again this morning I noticed that the light goes out when an eastbound U.P. train with the headlight on, gets close. And this morning I noted that it went out when it started to get light out at sunrise. This leads me to believe it has a photocell controlling when it is on and the train headlights are sufficient to make it think it is daytime and the light turns off.
Does anyone know what this light is? Is it a streetlight or a light on a RR control box, or ???

Has anyone else had trouble accessing the Rochelle cam today? Instead of the live cam, all I get is a "dead" picture from long ago. In the past, I've occasionally had to sign in separately from the forum sign-in, but it doesn't ask for that now.

I can't get it as usual on Firefox but can get it on Microsoft Edge which is a first since I got my Windows 10 computer. Anyone have any suggestions?
As always, we recommend using Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome and keeping your Adobe Flash Player plugin up to date.
I've noticed one operational peculiarity in Firefox.
My Earthcam window starts up black. After I pause and then start (play) the viewer all is well.

It worked for me with Edge, but not with Chrome. Chrome just displays the black screen and all the 'gingerbread' that surrounds it.
It comes in well for me via Google. Whoever puts it all together is unaware that I subscribe to Trains--there is invitation for me to subscibe at the top.

Johnny, between that and my lifetime subscription to Trains that they've been trying to interrupt, I think they're trying to kill me off, then resurrect me so I can take advantage of their marvelous offer.
Carl, as to lifetime subscriptions, if I had had the wherewithal when I first saw the magazine (I was in the 10th grade) I would done as you did.
I just now looked at the camera website, and I saw that the stairway now has a barrier across it.
At 1401 CT - no barrier across the stairway.
