So, 5 million tons out each day must mean five million tons in, but that wouldn't account for the weight of goods in transit.

Looks like it is back to the drawing board.

Bruce

So find an 'average trainsit time' and multiply it against the 5M tons per day figure.

I just watched the longest train I ever remember seeing. It was a mixed freight with two units up front and one in the middle. I wish i had timed it. It was on UP.

I do appreciate the updated camera view, but wish I could see the completesignal in the upper right hand corner as it would add to the enticement of the movement of west bound trains.

Worse than the problem we saw last winter with not being able to get the switch to the spur open, would be the problem I just saw getting the switch closed again on maniline trackage.

After judicious use of steel toed work boots and actually jumping on the mechanism the trainman finally got the result he wanted at 1146 CST.

I presume it is more than the switch appearing to be closed, but also getting favourable indications on the signals. At 14ºF, was it contraction of the mechanism or the electrical contacts?

They will be working on the switch every week of the year - sometimes more than one day a week.

I am new here, and tried to access the webcam for the first time. I got an error message. I subscribe to Classic Train but not Trains; is that the problem?

Still in training.

If you can post here, then you should be able to view the webcam.

Works for me in Windows 10 with both IE-11 and Edge.

Right now, 8:30 in the evening (CST) all I see are two LARGE orange circles (looks a lot like the moon).  The camera keeps trying to focus on anything it can, and fails miserably when it is dark.

What error message did you get?

Logged on at ~2150 to see your "moons".  Yeah, I saw a couple of bright white lights but the interesting thing was that I caught a WB BNSF train going about as fast as any train I've ever seen there.  I could only hear it and see the occasional reflection off the side of a car (container?).  Then the FRED sailed by and, I swear, it only blinked 4 times before it disappeared and everything got quiet.

Yes it appears snowy - and there seem to be a number of small birds flying around - suspect a grain car going through had been leaking.

Assuming there was a UP unit leading, then there were four Class 1's represented in seven units on one EB train.  Cool.

Thank you!  That's the machine we saw on the tracks when we got there (sometime after 1:00 p.m. yesterday), except that it was on the other track.  Guess I couldn't have gone over and checked it out, after all, with all of those trucks parked there.
