My daughter in law works a couple of blocks from the crash site. She said there was a strong smell of diesel outside, and there were dump trucks hauling off junk all day. I can't remember exactly what the derailed cars contained, but none of it was hazardous. Evidently there have been complaints from the public about that area. Wish I could be there to see how they're gonna get those locomotives out of the river. That ought to be interesting.

One more thing...I live right on that line, about 90 miles west in Schulenburg. I had my scanner on all evening just to see how railroads handle that sort of thing. It sounded like it was driving the dispatcher from Spring nuts trying to get the trains rerouted of find a place for them to stop. But this morning about 5:00 they were coming through town heading west again, so I guess the track is at least clear.

mike
