Kieth the Reader gets my vote...all pretty well covered the catagory but Kieth's was the most dramatic and expansive.....

Keith, Nicolas Morant Who was The Official Photographer for the CPR Got up one morning and caught the east bound Canadian from the lookout just to the north of where you took your picture.The Canadian was pullrd by a couple of Geeps.His picture was so popular that CPR archives ran off 1200 pictures off the negative, I purchased one picture at $ 125:00 and had to sign a form stating that I would not copy his picture. The negative was exhausted.

Never thought the Morant location would get to generate a bit of boredom; it's lost no magnificence, but tho' I haven't been there, it seems too familiar.
The NS engine with the different tree growing on the cab roof looks like the tree appropriately could be decorated for Christmas...
Cropping the image of the condr, either in the viewfinder or Ph-Sh, almost any way, would boost the impact, drama or gracefulness of the image; decapitating the cab's top...awkward.
The P&W and CSX shots work. The P&W doesn't have content and drama of the CSX but, the composition and tech objectives are very good.
Some of what endears to the Morant's sweeping curves and scenery is in the CSX photo and yes, flocking is the theme, acknowledged, snow and flocking is international so I go for conventional image criteria.
I went with Keith's shot as well. It also demonstrates one of the subtle aspects of rail fanning and photography I most enjoy; the shot you get while waiting for the shot you planned. Beautiful Photo.

This bunch of pics has got to be a challenge. 'Got to be difficult to find non-A companies that don't have rAilroAd, rAilwAy, or rAil roAd in the corperate name.
If the RR component is omitted, I submit my vote now for next week's picture of a Long Island FM C-Liner, preferably LIRR 2006... you know, the one with a visored headlight.

My choice is for Tom's photo.
Not to take anything away from the other most-popular shot, with the scenery like at Morant's curve, it would almost be difficult to take a bad photo there.
Tom's shot required some planning, is composed well, and the shot is close enough to see lots of detail in the scenery (plus it has the most 'flocking'). The snow on the rails was a nice bonus.
