I don't know how much they want for them, but it is a shame that they are scrapping them. I guess that they are getting good money for the prime movers and generators! I know that a museum where I work as asst mechanical officer wouls love to have one of them. I hate to see a good alco-mlw go to wast like that. We had 2 alco mrs-1s donated to us and the cmo and I are working on them to take care of the tool that the neglect of others thet let them set for a number of years!! Every one called them junk, and said that they wouldnt start!! Well, a couple of hours charging the batteries, and using wd40 to loosen up the injector arms,I climb into the cab, and the cmo is out on the running board keeping an eye on things, and I try to fire her up and after 2 revolutions of the prime mover, we are up and running! What a thrill, and alot of suprised nay-sayers. Any way, with the cartier being land locked, and the only way to get them out would be by boat or truck to another railway, plus any dissaslemby and reassembly would get expensive for the buyer, and on top of the price of the locomotive! I guess that there would not be many takers to go through all the work. Sorry to ramble on, but I hate to see a good alco go to scrap, and it seems that these alcos were in regular service and in good repair.
